Monday Made It #3!
Oh my goodness! It is already July! I can't believe that I am already a month into summer vacation! Once again, I have linked up with Tara over at 4th grade frolics for Monday Made It! This week I decided to make quiet critters. They are super easy using just pom poms, wiggly eyes, felt feet, and a glue gun!
I saw this idea at The Lemonade Stand but it was for Kindergarten and the students get prizes for their quiet critters. I wanted to change it a little to better work for my class. So, I decided that when it is important for my students to be quiet, I will give each of them a quiet critter. They will set these on their desk. As I walk around the room, if I see a student talking, I will move the quiet critter to the edge of their desk. If I see them talking again, I will take their quiet critter. All the students who have their quiet critter at the end of the activity, will get to put their name on the Rocking Hundred Chart (see earlier post).
I like this because it gives my students a visual reminder of the expectation for them. In addition, it allows me to manage the students without having to call them out in front of everyone else. Plus, they are cute :)
